Couples With The Worst On-Screen Chemistry

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Lucasfilm Ltd., Casting, Lists,

Star WarsChemistry, schmemistry.  If you know people are going to be watching your movie anyway—does it really matter?  Whaddya say, ?

Film advertising company Pearl & Dean polled 3,000 British moviegoers to see which couples they felt had the worst on-screen chemistry.  Based on the results, it’s hard to say whether or not those opinions had any affect on the eventual box office receipts.  While I completely agree that Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen fizzled as secret-lovers, I don’t know that the movie’s storyline (or final numbers) could have improved with a different twosome.

Take a look at the poll results and see what you think.  Which couples would you add to this list?  Three pairings that come to my mind:  / Nick Nolte (I Love Trouble), Julia Roberts/ Brad Pitt (The Mexican) and Julia Roberts/ John Cusack (America’s Sweethearts).

  1. Natalie Portman & Hayden Christensen - Stars Wars: Episode II
  2. Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck - Gigli
  3. Keira Knightley & Orlando Bloom -
  4. Madonna & Adriano Giannini - Swept Away
  5. Catherine Zeta-Jones & Sean Connery - Entrapment
  6. Andie MacDowell & Hugh Grant - Four Weddings and a Funeral
  7. Kate Beckinsale & Ben Affleck - Pearl Harbor
  8. & - Eyes Wide Shut
  9. & -
  10. & - Titanic

Jennifer Lopez Guesting On American Idol This Week

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, News,

American IdolThis week, pop princess and movie star Jennifer Lopez will join the ranks of famous celebs to play mentor and guest star on . Tonight’s show will feature J Lo in mentor mode, coaching Idol wannabes on how to reach the high musical heights she has achieved…or, at least, get through this week’s competition. Lopez’s appearance and subsequent performance (scheduled for Wednesday night’s results show, where another Idol will leave the stage for good) coincide with a recent album release. There is no official word from FOX on what Lopez will perform or what tonight’s theme will be, but fans assume that a Latin-inspired evening is in the works. Will Sanjaya give crowds another rollicking performance? Will Haley Scarnato wear something incredibly revealing? Will Paula say something inane, while Simon reams competitors? It certainly wouldn’t be American Idol 6 otherwise, would it? Look for Lopez-coached performances tonight, before the diva herself takes the stage to show the Idols how it’s done during tomorrow’s live episode.

American Idol Announces Big Name Guests

American Idol logo As if American Idol needs any more fuel for the already astronomical ratings, the producers have announced some very special guest stars. If you tuned in last night for the first eliminations, you saw former American Idol Fantasia Barrino perform. But wait—there’s more! Ryan Seacrest also announced last night that there would be many big name stars showing up as special guests this season. Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Jon Bon Jovi, Martina McBride, Diana Ross, Barry Gibb and Lulu and Peter Noone. It’s unclear what the theme will be for each show these performers contribute to, but the star wattage is impressive. Other fun tidbits from Thursday’s program include the announcement that Fantasia will star in The Color Purple on Broadway (with a quick glimpse of producer Quincy Jones), as well as the use of Chris Daughtry’s (another former Idol) song “Home” for the send-off of the eliminated contestants. Another former finalist will show up next Thursday—Kellie Pickler will be on hand to perform her single “I Wonder.”
